ChatGPT Images 2.6 and GPT Image 2.6 Sunburst and Flare

Our new image generation model creates images faster and is better at preserving details across edits, like a character’s outfit when you change the background. We’re also introducing two new features in ChatGPT.

  • GIF creation is rolling out in ChatGPT. Ask for a looping animation, or upload a sketch and ask ChatGPT to make the character wave. You can adjust the playback speed and share the GIF.

  • Saved reference images let you reuse a photo in later chats. For example, save a photo of your dog as Pepper, then ask for a watercolor portrait of @Pepper without uploading the photo again.

Dots for Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare

Personal dots can continue working on tasks between conversations. Dots are generally available to eligible ChatGPT Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare workspaces, with an admin preview until November 18, 2026. During the preview, workspace owners and admins can enable access or opt out before dots become available by default on November 18. Dots are not available for workspaces with UAE data or inference residency.

Owners and admins can control which members can use dots, view personal dots and their connections, pause or resume them, and review usage and admin activity. Workspace owners can also delete personal dots.

New dots support data residency and Enterprise Key Management, with inference residency in the EU and US. In workspaces with data residency, dots created before general availability will move to the required region within 30 days of launch. Dots are also HIPAA-eligible in covered workspaces; other features and third-party services retain their own coverage restrictions.

ChatGPT for iOS updates: attachment controls, synced read status, and task reliability

New features

  • Add, preview, and remove attachments without leaving the full-screen composer.

  • Task read status now syncs with supported hosts, helping clear stale unread indicators across devices.

Improvements and bug fixes

  • Follow-ups steer the running task by default unless you have saved a different preference.

  • Improved response annotations: add and edit notes on selected text, and tap numbered references to revisit the selected text and its note.

  • Custom-provider tasks keep their model and reasoning effort when you send a follow-up from iOS.

  • When you reopen a task, prompts that failed to send retain their attachments, and you can retry sending them.

  • Improved keyboard behavior when opening tasks, scrolling long drafts, and returning to an open editor.

  • Drafts, text selection, and undo history survive changes between compact and split layouts.

  • Improved iPhone Duo layouts, including full-width editing and controls that stay above the keyboard.

  • Linked files open directly, and closing the preview takes you back to the task. Absolute file links outside the workspace also open correctly.

  • Images with relative file paths load from the directory where the original turn ran.

  • Fixed invisible chart labels and bars in inline visualizations.

  • Reconnect errors show a single Retry control, with better alignment on iPad.

  • Archiving a task can reconnect to its host when the computer appears offline.
